Yep,...we went into the studio for 2 days,....and recorded 4 songs,live,...no overdubs...it sounds like we sound live!!!
I am working on mixing it,and it should be available soon.

so,...obviously,...the aug 18th outdoor show didnt happen.
due to the fact that it's fucking raining IN AUGUST!!! lame o rama.
but,...King Jr went into the studio to record a four song demo yesterday,and things are going well ahead of schedule,and sounding quite fine.
this will be a 'live' demo with no overdubs,sounds like we sound live....pretty cool.
the raw tracks will be done soon,then I will be lock myself away to mix it....when it's done we'll have 'em at shows for ya! I'll sent out a email on the mailing list when it's done,...yay!

and I guess I figured it was time for a change....so,thats why everything looks different.
It's summer.....and life is lazy..sweeeeet. King Jr just played a private party last night and it was a great night,...'cept for them skeeters. we are working on getting into the studio soon to do a l'il demo/EP,
it should be cool. we are also doing a show on august 18th,a fundraiser/benefit thing for George Barner,who is running for port commissioner,venue TBA.
I had a great birthday,and an awesome 4 day break from the day job.
lazy is good.............sometimes ;)

Damn this was a great show and a huge amount of fun!!!!!
we raised a pretty good chunk o change for aaron,broke the attendence record for the venue,and got to hang out with all our buds!! & Black Label kicked ass as well.........cooooool

Thanks to all who came out to this show,...it was the busiest night of the weekend for Charlies and there were people lined up outside to get in.
it was hot,sweaty fun.
we'll be back soon!!!!!!

found some old opaline writting sessions demos....

stuff that didnt get used for one reason or another (like hardware failure).....

so just for the hell of it I made some MP3s of 'em....& there ya go.....they're in the 'demos & projects" section on the 'LISTEN' page. (can you tell they were mixed on headphones?....it least,..it sounds like they were..hehehe)

King Jr is in practice mode....we'll be back out there soon with a few new tunes....like a pretty bitchin cover of Robin Trowers 'Bridge of sighs'....stay tuned.

we took a couple of weeks off after our last show to recover from a tragedy in the King Jr family.
but we are coming back on the 28th of april to the south pacific again.

Hey all!
well,....Joe,Chris and I have taken the last week off,Chris' other band MTF has a cool gig coming up tomorrow and they were hittin the practice shed heavily.

But starting next week,..we will be doin the same. we are working away and are planing a few gigs soon after the first of the year....the set is sounding pretty cool! we are playing everything off opaline except - L'il One (because its a spacey improv) Haven (because its a spacey improv) and Albion (because of the tons of guitar tracks,....but it may find it way in there sometime,...somehow.)
and there will be the occassional improv as well...

The Pump ---- hmmmm....who'd have known......this appears to be the favorite song of folks buying my music via sites like iTunes,MSNmusic etc......especially in europe...
its odd how one of the last tunes written and recorded on 'Opaline' would end up being a popular one....actually,..I'm just amazed and pleasently surprised that anyone is listening at all.....thanks to all who have been buying the music,and also to those writting me inquiring about shows and sending notes of support,...very cool,...you all rock.

The live set is shaping up slowly but surely.
'tis the cold and flu season,...and that has slowed us a bit,but Chris,Joe and I are excited to get out and play soon. the songs are sounding pretty sweet,and we may be slipping a bit of improv into the show as well....another month or so of good solid practice and we should be out there plummeling some eardrums!!!!

well,...a week or so ago,Joe and I started working on tunes with a real live drummer!!! *gasp*....yayyyy!
my buddy Chris Shealy of the metal band M.T.F. has graciously stepped up into the drummer slot! so,now,...he gets to memorize 2 sets of music. we're working on the tunes one at atime to get 'em sounding good,and hopefully we'll be out playing a few shows in a few months. stay tuned!! yayyyyy!!!!!

been awhile since I updated the news section,so I thought I'd post a L'il blurb.
currently Joe's in california,attending his sons wedding,and I am continuing the drummer search,...although,I received a phone call today that could move things forward..... we may end up 'sharing' a drummer with a fairly well known seattle band.

So,myself and bassist Joe Greene are still seeking a drummer to perform Opaline and some other stuff LIVE!!
if anyone out there knows a good drummer who may be interested,send them our way via this site and/or email me at jef@jefbear.com .
I may even need to add a 2nd guitarist to help cover parts,but right now,drums are the priority.

Opaline has been out a month now,...and all is well.
except for the fact I currently need a drummer to perform this music live,and have yet to find anyone.

I have had offers to play gigs all up and down the west coast,and also an offer to play in Italy. C'mon!! where are all the good drummers at?

I have added a new section to the music area 'New Stuff/Rough Mixes' and put a new song in it 'Threadline' it's VERY long and was intended to have vocals,but the vocals havent happened,and I think the person who was to be the vocalist has flaked at this point in time. but there it is.

its a very rough mix,and I played around with some mastering tools,...used it as a guinea pig for mastering experimentation,hopefully it will get the full treatment soon,with vocals and proper mastering.

look to this area for new stuff I am writing/recording,and once there is a drummer in place I will possibly post live stuff here too.
